Tina: I guess that I saw people on TV and I said 'Wow!', I'd love to see myself in a big screen TV, and have people say 'Wow, what a great actress!'
Tina: Growing up in general is difficult for everyone. Ordinarily during the stage of your life when you're going through your adolescence and you're completely awkward and uncomfortable, the rest of the world isn't watching you with bated breath. It's different when you're an actor and you choose to work your way through that period because it only makes it worse.
Tina Majorino: I think the audience can see you in a role and get comfortable with you in that role. They like you in that role and they want to continue seeing you in that role. It’s interesting, because after I did Napoleon Dynamite, I went into casting sessions, and they all think that I am really nerdy and that I really wear side ponytails. I think that’s just human nature that you see somebody in one aspect, and it’s kind of hard to imagine them in a different one.
Tina Majorino (about dating other actors): It’s just not worth it. I’m not going to say that I’m never going to date someone who does the same thing as me, but that kind of narrows everything down. I feel like whenever you say that you're never going to do this, it always ends up happening.
Tina Majorino: I think that when I look at projects in general, if anything is a good role, I’ll look at it. The exciting thing for me with any project is the prospect of being challenged in some sort of way. If it could offer up a challenge for me, that would be something that I would do. That’s what I look for each day when I’m looking to do a project.
Tina: I try to just remind myself that what's meant to be will be and there's always enough work out there for everyone.
Tina: I definitely didn't know that Napoleon [Dynamite] would blow up like it did. I just signed on to do it because I thought it was funny. My family didn't think the script was funny at all but I loved it and after they saw it they got why I wanted to do it. The characters are very genuine and sweet and it has such great messages in it too. And besides that, it's got the best one-liners of all time.
Tina: My character Mac and I aren't too much alike. I'm definitely more nerdy than Mac is. But I do love to colour my hair and I am a computer buff. I love that Mac is tough and smart. I'm scrappy and all but I don't think I'm quite as blatantly rock chick as Mac is, but it is fun to play characters that are different than your normal everyday self though.
Tina: One problem is that people still think I'm 15 but its only because I look young. Personally, I love that though. Looking young is something most women are obsessed with. I don't have to be I just got good genes.
Tina: I'm either all in or it doesn't feel right so taking that break gave me a chance to get to know myself better and make the decision to act again.
Tina: All of the AM Projects music is written by us! Other people don't write it for us which makes us even more awesome because we really are musicians.
Tina: Americans are so laid back and slouchy, but in Victorian England, little girls were brought up by duchesses who pestered them about correct speech and walk and manners.
Tina: Alice in Wonderland was probably the best movie I ever worked on. I came away from that feeling so confident.
Tina: I took time off from the time I was 13 until I was 18. I wanted to take that time to be a kid and make sure that acting was really what I wanted to do.
Tina: My mother always kept trying to scare me out of being an actress, but It didn't work.
