Hairspray
It's 1963 and Merville High School teenagers Tracy Turnblad and best friend Penny Pingleton love to come home after school and watch the Corny Collins Show on TV. The dream of being on the show becomes a reality when Tracy goes to the hop that night and wins the dance competition, defeating the spoiled and egotistical Amber Von Tussle. From the very first day on the show Tracy is the favorite and this puts Amber and Tracy at odds. Adding fuel to the fire is Amber's boyfriend Link Larkin dumps her for Tracy who is not as pretty as her. Tracy, Penny, Link and Seaweed (Penny's boyfriend) are pro-integration, and Amber and her parents Velma and Franklin, are pro-segregation. While at Tilted Acres (run by the Von Tussle family) a race riot breaks out and Tracy is taken to reform school, making her ineligible to win the coveted role of Queen of the 1963 Auto Show. Amber is therefore crowned to the disappointment of all Tracy's friends and family. However Tracy gets pardoned by the mayor and released from reform school. She makes her way to the armory to take her place as the rightful queen of the auto show bringing along her "colored" friends now making the Corny Collins Show integrated to the disgust of the Von Tussle family. And as Tracy would say, "Let's dance!!!"

Troll
An evil troll, Torok, the transformed state of the ex-husband of an old friendly witch named Eunice St. Clair, has chosen her apartment building to be the heart of the restoration of the world he once knew. To do this he uses an Emerald ring, and takes possession of a little girl named Wendy, whose brother Harry immediately suspects something wrong. Torok, often in the form of the little girl, goes into each occupant's apartment, hideously transforming people (beginning with Peter Dickinson, named after the author/protagonist of _The Flight of Dragons_, which explores similar themes) into plant pods.
