After going through Vinnie's grandmother's garage they stumbled upon a plant pesticide called Sevindust. That is where they found there new band name.
Vocalist Lajon Witherspoon's take on the band name is that "seven is a holy number and we are all made of dust."
The name Sevendust came when they all decided that the number has always been lucky too them and dust is everything that starts at the beginning.
Lead singer Lajon Witherspoon postponed the Sevendust shows after finding out his brother, Redinald Witherspoon, was shot to death on November 10th, 2002.
