We're constantly being told what other people think we are, and that's why it is so important to know yourself.

Has been playing instruments, including the piano and guitars, since the age of 5. Started Lilith Fair, the first all female performer concert tour. It lasted 3 summers from 1997 to 1999 and toured North America. Was the first artist signed to Nettwerk recording label. She was 17 at the time.

The first instrument she learned to play was the ukulele.
Her song "Angel" kept rapper DMC alive while dealing with the discovery of his adoption. He heard it on the radio and immediately felt the pull of the music. It gave him hope and gave him the strength to make it through that dark time in his life. As a result, he asked her to collaborate with him on his solo song "Just Like Me". During one recording session, she revealed she too had been adopted.
Expecting second child with husband Ashwin Sood together in 2007.
Gave birth to her second daughter at age 39. The baby girl was born June 2007.
