Pen?lope: (defending herself after her and Salma Hayek posed together for a provocative shot showing Pen? grabbing Salma's bum) You know what they've been saying because of that picture? We are like sisters and we have some sense of humour ... We did that in front of 100 photographers and the story now is that apparently we are lovers. I'm sorry to say, that is not the case!
Penelope: If one day I have a family, maybe I would want to raise my family in Europe but I am not thinking about that now. I want to keep working as much as I do now. Now I am working a lot, it is very intense. So in the future I will work but maybe have more time for other things, three quarters or half of what I do now.
Penelope: (her own mother provided inspiration for her role as Raimunda in Volver) My mum came to mind many times when I was preparing the character, her strength. She worked six days a week and still did everything for us, like lunch, dinner and of course the clothing. She was like a superwoman.
Penelope: (on her film Volver) We had all the time in the world to find things that the character needed. One day in a costume fitting we tried padding in my skirt like half jokingly and it was making me walk differently and act differently. Pedro (Almodovar) said it was the arse that Dustin Hoffman had in Tootsie and I love that.
Penelope: I love Salma Hayek, we've been friends for a really long time. I admire how she has come such a long way and always remained grounded and who she is. She never compromises to follow her vision and she is loyal. Such qualities only mark the great stars.
Penelope: The most difficult thing in the world is to start a career known only for your looks, and then to try to become a serious actress. No one will take you seriously once you are known as the pretty woman.
