Nick Wechsler Quotes & Trivia

Quotes

Nick: A person sent me something, it was like a letter that had been handwritten, but it was a copy, and it was blank where my name would be, and it was blank where the name of the show would be. It was like, (blank), you are my favorite actor on (blank). You could see my name was written in blue pen, and the name of the show, I thought it was hilarious, that person deserves a dollar or something.

Nick: It's hard for me to judge "Roswell" for that reason. I can't say the show is fantastic, only that I enjoy working on it. But I don't buy it as a viewer, because as I watch, I know how many takes we did to get the scenes to work. I know everything that went into making it, because I was there. It's a shame, really. I know where the story's going, so I can't be surprised or affected by it. It's ALL fake to me.

(On shooting 'Roswell') Nick: There was one time when we did a scene where I was playing basketball and Liz confronts Kyle about something, and we walked to the edge of the court and the fence is no longer between us and we're standing face to face. And they are shooting over her shoulder, and they can't see what I'm seeing. And a fly flew around and landed right between her eyes, and it was a scene where we're supposed to be intense and all serious. And the funniest thing about it was that neither of us addressed it. It landed and I saw it, and I was trying so hard not to laugh, and I blew it and the director yelled at me.

(On school) Nick: In middle school, I was really shy, nobody ever wanted to talk to me. High school was where I became the greatest guy in the world so a lot of people wanted to talk to me.

(When asked if he's the prankster of the cast of 'Roswell') Nick: I guess so, I'm not really a prankster, I don't put whoopie cushions down or anything, I just joke around, try to make people laugh on set, and it usually doesn't work. That's why it's funny you say that, it usually doesn't work, they laugh at me, not with me. So I just sit in my trailer...

(On UFOs) Nick: One time I saw something that looked like it was flying, and I couldn't IDENTIFY it, so that makes it a UFO, doesn't it? But it could have been something on my contacts. Or I might have been drinking. Of course, I was in middle school at the time, and I wasn't a heavy drinker then, so who knows?

(On 'The X-Files' season 7 finale Requiem when he missed it) Nick: I want to see it. A friend of mine tapes all of them, so I'll just get it from him. But something that has calmed me down is the fact that they released the first season on DVD. That right there makes it fine. I can handle missing stuff because I can get it all later.

(On the hardest part of acting) Nick: You'll be better for it, if you can just have confidence. That's something I've always known. I know I'll be better. I know plenty of actors who are arrogant and don't deserve to be. But because they are arrogant, they just perform better because they don't believe they can fail. I know I'm mortal and I explore it constantly, and because of that I get down on myself.

(On being a famous actor) Nick: It's kind of strange. There are people who bring you water all the time. Why can't people get their own water? I don't get it.

(On Nick) Brendan Fehr: He's got these little things where I honestly think he's mentally handicapped! You're like, from what part of the brain does this come from?!

Nick: I hate listening to actors [invent their character's attributes]. It's like they're kissing their own asses about the stuff they added.

(On his role as Kyle on 'Roswell') Nick: In terms of acting, I had the most fun so far on Blind Date. You can call that one the drunk episode. It was a little more of a stretch for me. Kyle got drunk in that one, and I had fun attempting to not overplay it.

(On 'Roswell' co-star William Sadler) Nick: He's funny and talented and just amazing.
