Nia (about putting on Christmas shows for needy kids at a children's house while she was growing up): Even though we weren't curing cancer, I realized that God gives each one of us something special, and that ability to perform brings happiness and joy to people. That was my first thought of maybe this is what I'm supposed to be doing.
Nia has been married 3 times. The first time was to Guy Ecker from May 26, 1984-1986. The second time was to Howard Hewett from 1989-1993. The third time was to Lauro Chartrand from November 22, 1997 - June 1, 2004.
Nia's mother, Elizabeth, is a Flamenco dancer of a Spanish, Filipino and German descent. Her father, Robert, is an artist of a Scottish, Irish, Spanish and Native American descent.
