After his experiences with Morrie Schwartz, he started a volunteer group called "A Time to Help." Each month, the group does something to improve the Detriot community, including work at homeless shelters, food banks, and orphanages.
He lives with his wife Janine in Michigan.
Albom is a graduate of Brandeis University and Columbia University.
