Katie: When I was in my early teens, I wasn’t very confident. In fact, before getting the part in the film, I’d say I was shy, especially at school. I’d never acted before, but being in front of the camera has really brought me out of myself.
Katie: (on acting) I wouldn't want to be in a film because I'm Asian. I want to get respect as an actress.
Katie said that if she could have any magical power, she would like to be able to read boys' minds.

Katie's father saw an ad for a casting call for Harry Potter, and told Katie she should try out for it. Good for her that he did!
Katie on the rumors that fans rebelled against Harry Potter having an Asian girlfriend says, "It stemmed from tow comments that people made on a website. Not even relatively as horrible as made out! I haven't seen anything. I don't get hate mail like people say I do!"
