The Dissection of Thanksgiving
After breaking off his engagement to his long time girlfriend, late night radio DJ Robby Morgan, comes home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon arriving, he is informed that the family will be getting together that evening at their favorite Chinese restaurant, The Golden Buddha, for an announcement. At dinner, Robby, his hypochondriac younger brother Charlie, and his adopted sister Brooke soon learn that their Dad, Cliff, is being "let go" from his 20 years at A,M & A's as head of customer service. Concerned and disappointed, the kids try to console their dad, only to discover that something much worse is actually happening. After thirty years of marriage, their parents, Cliff and Carol, are getting a divorce. The news sends Charlie into a severe "allergic reaction", Brooke into a tirade of foul language and accusations, and leaves Robby lost and confused as he tries to process it all. Carol reassures the kids that they will still have Thanksgiving together as a family, but as they try to understand how this could have happened, things get more and more complicated. With an inherent difficulty in expressing himself, but with hopes of saving the marriage, Cliff desperately tries to find a way to get through to Carol. Meanwhile, Robby, feeling misplaced and alone, is forced to come to terms with a secret he has been hiding for years. He is in love with his adopted sister, Brooke. Tensions mount as Charlie accidentally walks in on Brooke and Robby kissing; Ed Spade, Brooke's narcissistic boyfriend and long time rival to Robby, shows up for Thanksgiving dinner; and Cliff and Carol attempt to maintain a civil and pleasant traditional holiday atmosphere. As the Morgan's struggle to hold on to their identity, they find themselves at a crossroads. What they thought they were all these years, the epitome of a wholesome, loving, close-knit family is now in question. Will they lose the one thing they believed they could always count on, each other? This is the dissection of identity, The dissection of family; The Dissection of Thanksgiving.

American Fork
It's hard not to like Tracy Orbison. A dopey Midwestern guy who excels in the food-stocking profession, Tracy politely and passively lives out his days scribbling poems in a notebook during shift breaks and dreaming of making something more of himself. Thinking he may have found the answer, he enrolls in an acting class taught by a pompous Z-list has-been (played by a hilarious William Baldwin). Though things don't quite go according to plan, a tragically comic chain of events is set off that leads Tracy to take a more active role in his life, mentoring a young thug, fending off his obnoxious mother and sister, attempting to pass his driver's exam and trying to lose "about ten pounds." Much like producer Jeremy Coon's commercial hit, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, AMERICAN FORK shines above most of the "dork comedies" that have been sweeping festivals across the nation. Like a more hopeful version of Todd Solondz's WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE, director Chris Bowman's film pumps you full of love for the main character, and you'll find yourself rooting for him through every awkwardly funny mishap. A different kind of everyman, Tracy Orbison reminds us all to take care when following our dreams.
