Kate: (asked if she would do “Dancing With The Stars“) When I get asked that question I instantly think no. But to be honest, I instantly thought no when I was asked to do the singing for It Takes Two. Now when I look back, I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. I’m so glad I had the courage to say yes. I was watching DWTS last night and they look like they’re having the most fantastic time. And it only takes up three months of your life. Plus, you get to learn a new skill, you get fit - and you get paid to do it.
Kate: (looking back on old photos of her attending the Logie Awards) Some of them [her dresses] are absolutely hideous! I probably loved all of them at the time, but it’s like going back through your old photo albums and you think, “Oh my God, Kate! What were you thinking?” And there are only so many outfits you can blame on your mother or the wardrobe department.
Kate: (asked what her favourite TV show is) The Young Ones and Young Talent Time, just because I wanted to be on the show.
Kate: (on “Home And Away’s 2006 cliff-hanger, which saw Kate’s character fighting for her life) It’s as if I had to go along with the story, and contemplate the idea of leaving. In my head, I was never leaving, but I couldn’t say that out loud.
Kate (after "Home And Away's" 2006 cliffhanger, which left Kate's character, Sally in danger): I don't think we've ever had such a huge response. So many people stopped me in the street, convinced I was leaving. I just told them to tune in, leaving them intrigued because I didn't want to spoil the storyline for them.
Kate: I feel competent at doing Home and Away, but what happens if I try to spread my wings and I fall flat on my face? I guess it's a natural way to feel after doing it for so long.
Kate (on when she would be leaving "Home and Away"): I don't think I'll ever fully know until the day it happens. And sometimes I do wonder what life holds for me outside of Home and Away.
Kate: (asked if she wants to start a family in the next five years) I guess so… maybe 10. I’m only 28 now, so there’s no rush. I have a couple of friends who’ve had kids and, rather than making me go, ‘That’s exactly what I want to do’, it’s made me think now is not the right time.
Kate: (on “It‘s Takes Two“) When the producers asked me, I certainly didn’t jump at it. I thought, ’Do I really want to put myself out there?’ There are all those thoughts of some kind of public humiliation. Then I thought, ‘Take a chance’.
Kate: (on her role in "Stepfather Of The Bride") It was a little daunting at first, but it’s been lots of fun.
Kate: (her dream job) I often dreamt of being an architect, but a full-time job from the age of eight kinda put that on hold.
Kate: The most divine ice-cream I’ve ever eaten was a banana gelato in Italy. In fact, every flavour was good!
Kate: (asked if she has pets) No, they are a lot of responsibility and I’m flat out taking care of myself let alone a dog. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love one though.
Kate: I love to cook and find it very therapeutic. Right now I’m into Moroccan cooking.
Kate: (her first car) A silver Ford Laser. It’s still in the family actually - it has served us well.
Kate: Do you know what, I‘ve had so many people around me having babies and getting married that I don‘t need to do it. I‘ve seen how much hard work it is for everybody else and I‘ve had a crazy 12 months, so trying to fit in a wedding and a baby, I just think that‘s a ridiculous idea.
Kate: (her preferred style of music) More along the classical lines of signing. I‘ve never really been into rock‘n‘roll.
