Jessica: When someone tells me I can't do something, that makes me all the more determined to do it and succeed. That's why I came back and auditioned again for American Idol. I needed to prove to myself I could do it.
Jessica: One of the greatest parts of my whole experience on American Idol is seeing how happy and proud my grandmother is. I am so glad my grandparents are still alive to see me on the show.
She first started to sing when she was 3 years old at church.
Jessica made her song selection on American Idol based on her emotional attachment to the lyrics.
As a teenager, Jessica was a member of a girl group called Entertainment Review. Even though the group disbanded a few years ago, she remains very close friends with several of the group's former members.
Jessica describes herself as a fun and loving person.
Her favorite subject in school is Math, while her worst subject in school is History.
Her hobbies are line dancing, playing pool, and bowling.
Her performances on American Idol were: "Against All Odds" "A Broken Wing" "The Boys Are Back in Town" "Shop Around" "Total Eclipse of the Heart" "On the Side of Angels" She was in the bottom 3 for her performance of "Shop Around" in the Top 12. She was eliminated after her performance of "On the Side of Angels," which made her come in 10th place.
