Amant, L'
It is French Colonial Vietnam in 1929. A young French girl from a family that is having some monetary difficulties is returning to boarding school. She is alone on public transportation when she catches the eye of a wealthy Chinese businessman. He offers her a ride into town in the back of his chauffeured sedan, and sparks fly. Can the torrid affair that ensues between them overcome the class restrictions and social mores of that time? Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Maugerite Duras.

Boy meets Girl in Egypt. Girl is profoundly affected and returns to England where she apathetically becomes engaged to the 'boy' next door. A thoroughly unsuited couple. Lili, an old family friend arrives for the nuptials and enchants all and sundry, including the wife of one of her previous liaisons. Lili sees what the groom and the brides mother refuse to see and manages to resolve the situation to the brides great satisfaction.

Set in 1999, a woman (Dommartin) has a car accident with some bank robbers, who befriend and enlist her help to take the money to a drop in Paris. On the way she runs into another fugitive from the law (Hurt), an American who is being chased by the CIA. The charges are false, he says, that they want to confiscate a device his father has invented which allows you to record your dreams and vision. On the run from the bank robbers and the CIA, they span the globe, ending up in Australia at the research facility of his father (von Sydow), where they hope to be able to play back the recordings Hurt has made to his blind mother.
