Jason Carter Quotes & Trivia

Quotes

Jason: It's been an interesting foray in the world of fame. I mean, this is a particular type of fame, because Science Fiction fame is not a general fame, so it's an interesting experience. And it can be overwhelming, especially at the conventions. You go to some hotel you're staying in during the weekend and you are on for the entire weekend.

Jason: Personally, though, I'd sooner come back as Doctor Who at the moment. I'm just waiting for the offer... Once Sci-Fi magazine voted me as something like, 'the best potential Doctor Who,' and it was great to receive an award for something I had never done. I love it!

Jason: I would like to be known as an Actor, with a capitol 'A'. I really don't want to be a personality actor. I want people to not to be able to recognize me in a role, without having to wear prosthetics; just to be true to the piece and the character that has been written.

Jason: (On the death of this "Babylon 5" character) I am pleased with the way [that Marcus] has been played out. I think that if you are going to die, it is better to die in action. It's an archetype. It is an absolutely archetypal heroic death. I mean, you have this hero with long hair and a beard, who is swashbuckling and goes flying about the place. he has no attachments to anybody and is completely frugal. And here he has this love for Ivanova, which is a noble love. A higher love. High enough to dedicate his life to.

Jason: Aproaching a role. I have always thought that each character is movement in personality based on history and circumstance. If I, myself had the character's history, intimated in the script and this was my present circumstance, what would I be thinking/feeling to spontaneously say these scripted words. Script gives you a destination. These will be the words said and your job is to find the emotional place where those words are the only words you could say.

Jason: I just leaned in that direction and fell. When I left school at 18, I had just completed two years studying Math, Physics, and Chemistry and then I auditioned for Drama schools. LAMDA accepted me and by the time I finished the course, three years later, I had an agent. He sent me out for work which I got and that was it, I was an actor. Maybe I was before but now I got paid.
