Jared: My drama coach gave me a lot of self-confidence when I wasn't sure of myself.
Jared: (on “Supernatural” co-star Jensen Ackles) I have an older brother and a younger sister, and Jensen does as well, so he and I just kicked it off pretty quickly. He’s Texan, I’m Texan... You hear these horror stories about Desperate Housewives and stuff, where everybody’s arguing about trailers, but we just want to work hard and make sure our crew is happy.
Jared: A girl I'm attracted to, but there has to be more than just a physical attraction. I want a girl I can talk to and have fun doing random things with. Someone who I enjoy and who enjoys me. She has to have a good sense of humor and be willing to kid around.
Jared: I'm so happy with my family, my career and my friends, and I'd like for them to be here forever, so I guess loss is what scares me the most.
Jared: (Jared believes in the supernatural) I do. I've never had any personal experiences, but it's a big world, and it's hard to believe we're the only things around. I'm sure there are other people like us, or a bizzarro Earth. I'm sure a lot of it is scary.
Jared: (on meeting girlfriend of two years, Sandra McCoy, while filming the flick Cry Wolf) We met and flirted, and we all went out as a group, but she and I didn't go out on a date or anything. When we started dating a couple months later, people were like, "What took you guys so long?" I thought, "Was it that obvious?" She's a really great, generous person. She has a huge heart and makes people laugh and smile. She's just a lot of fun and very genuine.
Jared: (on Cold Stone Creamery's ice cream) I could eat it all day, every day." says Jared. "I'm actually a little lactose intolerant, so it kind of makes me feel sick, but I can't stop myself. I'd be about 400 pounds if I didn't.
Jared: It's sort of a goofy story but, I was filming the movie called Flight of the Phoenix and we were in Africa and we were on sand roads that were just sort of you know, you follow the tracks of the car in front of you and I wasn't used to driving in sand I grew up in Texas where it's asphalt and gravel if anything but um, the car started to swerve a little so I started to try and get straight and just turned and it ended up flipping and I'm on the side of the road and it does a whole roll and it lands upright and your sort of at the second like 'Am I okay? What's going on?' and you sort of quirk your neck and you move your back and then I remembered seeing movies where you know a car crashes into something and every body's okay and then it explodes! And so I'm like 'Oh no!' so I open up my door and I run across the street and I'm like fifty feet away and I'm like, 'Thank God I'm not gonna be in there when it explodes'. I'm looking at the car and it's not exploding and it doesn't really look damaged and I realize that I just ran outta a car after flipping it and I start looking around and I'm like 'There's not sounds, there's no wind, there's no birds or trees. I'm dead!' I thought, I was sure that I was dead. I just heard some story about a guy who sees a car accident and goes up to help and sees himself inside and I was like 'That is me, I am dead I better called Set and tell them I'm dead. So I run back to the car to get my phone and I turn the car upside down which it's now used to cause it just flipped and uh, I look for the phone and I can't find the phone and I'm like 'Of course I can't find the phone I'm dead I don't need the phone why would I need the phone?
Jared: I don't think we take ourselves very seriously. Growing up I used to see these people who were called like cuties or hotties or sex symbols and they'd be like 'You know I'm sexy'. [strikes a pose] or like, 'look how sexy and hot I am' and I think it’s just disgusting and I think you gotta kinda be able to make fun of yourself you know. However you look is just a shell of who you are- it's nothing really-- to do with you.
Jared: (on Sandra McCoy) I'm the opposite of her. If you asked if she's rather have a deranged murderer break in or a ghost, she'd say deranged murderer!
Jared: I'm a little self-conscious about my body. I love to wear hoodies because you can get cozy and eat some food and your belly doesn't show!
Jared: I love cookies baking. During the winter, they have these candles that smell like cookies, and I always buy like a hundred of them.
Jared: By no means am I Mr. Tough, but I can't name any specific fear I have... I don't know if this qualifies as a superstition, but every time I step on a plane, I kiss my finger and touch the top of the doorjamb. I started doing that in high school when someone would run a red or yellow light. I don't know what that means.
Jared: [jokingly] I have seen an unidentified flying object. I couldn't identify it, nor could anyone I was with. But no, I haven't been abducted just yet!
Jared: (on Australia) It’s gorgeous. It’s green and the Great Barrier Reef is a wonder of the world.
Jared: (On preparing for Supernatural) I watched a lot of scary stuff: The X-Files, The Twilight Zone, The Ring. I also researched mythology – my mom, Sheri, is a heroes, myths and legends teacher in high school, so she studies Greek mythology. There's so much literary value to the show, so I wanted to know the deeper sides to the stories. And Jensen and I got the fight training – we boxed and did martial arts, because both of our characters are supposed to be pretty well-versed.
Jared: I had a nightmare about being on a cruise ship and the ship going down. It was an arduous process of the ship going down and we knew it was going down. There was everyone I know and love on the ship.
Jared on love: "Don't place expectations on someone. Enjoy the time you have together, and let it go where it goes."
