Francis Coppola's Notebook
Francis Coppola explains how he adapted the original novel by Mario Puzo. Coppola shows (for the first time) his original "prompt book" containing all of his notes and observations that would be used to plan the screenplay and production design of the now classic film. In the Shadows
Cynthia and Buck are a young couple with little but love. Soon Cynthia drops the cough syrup and beer drinking Buck: her dreams of being a princess did not involve an unemployed boyfriend who steals steaks and fruit-pies under his shirt. Setting out on her own, a devastated Buck left behind, Cynthia gets a job caring for rich but terminally ill Eleanor. As God would have it, Buck comes back into the picture. Cynthia persuades him to charm the self-conscious Eleanor, to gain favors in her will. What ensues is an intense love triangle, a passionate example of the redeeming power of love and forgiveness.

Viva Las Nowhere
Somewhere in Kansas, Frank operates the Middle O'America Motel and dreams of opening a club where he'll sing his country songs. His wife Helen is disparaging, so when a scheming chanteuse is dumped by her loutish husband on Frank's front door, Frank is bewitched. In short order, though, the visitor (Julie) has dispatched Helen, set in motion a con for Frank's money, called her husband to come get her, and taken Frank's army buddy (just arrived for a visit) into the bathtub for some fun. Soon Frank is in over his head, just as Helen's twin sister comes for a visit and Julie's husband arrives looking for his wife. Is there any way out of this situation (and out of Kansas) for Frank?
