Holland's nephew is filmmaker Brad Anderson. She also appeared in his movies Next Stop Wonderland and Happy Accidents.

Holland has won Emmy Award (1999) as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Practice and has been nominated as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in The Lot and as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Two and a Half Men.

Holland loves France and has even taken French language lessons.
