Chicago air controller Jack Harris is a wreck with guilt nightmares after a major Transair crash, killing all 174 aboard, gives up the job and designs air control software instead. Five years later, his ex-colleague T.C. Bryant, meanwhile also transferred to Phoenix, desperately asks him to help out short-term, given desperate staff shortage on Newyears eve with a bad storm predicted, after a power cut hits, which is actually the sabotage work of technical whiz John Quinn, who has meanwhile messed up the systems on several airports, so they see their workload multiplied. Colleagues welcome him in very different states of mind but he quickly proves his capabilities, alas then the fatal memories start creeping up again: will his lack of self-confidence cause another drama?

Dad's Week Off
A computer salesman (Henry Winkler) charged with marketing a tiny computer that no one can operate faces hypertension when he realizes that there is no way to sell the product and he is likely to lose his job. So he can get some rest, his wife offers to take their two kid's camping for a week. When his fellow salesman (Richard Jeni) and best friend is fired and thrown out of his house by his wife, he moves in and immediately starts unending parties which ultimately ends up the house on fire and Winkler arrested on multiple charges. In between, in a drug-induced stupor, he gets mixed up with a ditzy blonde (Olivia D'Abo) who wants to marry him and rescue her child from being raised by her parents.

A teenage girl (Neve Campbell) becomes the target of a killer who has stalked and killed one of her classmates. A tabloid news reporter (Courtney Cox) is determined to uncover the truth, insisting that the man who raped and killed Campbell's mother one year earlier is the same man who is terrorizing her now. Campbell's boyfriend (Skeet Ulrich) becomes the prime suspect.
