In an interview in Jamaica Gleaner (February 25, 2006), Frank was asked if soap operas were a training ground for other work. He disagreed. Frank Grillo: Everything you do as an actor teaches you something. But soaps are not necessarily the best learning ground for other genres. There's a difference in the way you work in films compared to the way you work in soaps. And the same with primetime television.

When he was in high school, Frank aspired to be a professional athlete.
Prior to his getting his role in 1996 as Hart Jessup on Guiding Light, Frank was busy with television commercials. His most memorable spots were for Miller Genuine Draft and Sure.
Frank met Wendy Moniz when they worked together on Guiding Light. They have been married since since October 28, 2000.
