Dave made a brief appearance in the 1994 movie Floundering, as the 'drug kid', and in 2003's Uptown Girls, as the 'rocker guy'.

Dave relapsed into drugs and alcohol after five years of being clean and sober. He neglects to maintain his health, diet, and exercise rituals during this time, focusing on heroin.

Dave played a few shows with former band Jane's Addiction when they reunited in 1997, 1999, and 2001.
