Svitato, Lo Achille, fattorino nelle sede di un importante quotidiano, sogna di fare il giornalista, ed un giorno ? scambiato per tale. Il suo amico Gigi, un affarista, contando sulla sua ingenuit?, lo induce a preparare insieme una grossa rapina, giusto per essere il primo ad annunziare la notizia al giornale. Il colpo consiste nel rapire dei cani di razza, sostituendoli con dei bastardi. Alla fine le cose prendono un'altra piega. I cani sono rapiti, ma fuggono e, cos?, lo scoop svanisce. Comunque, Gigi trae vantaggio dalla situazione e fugge con Elena, il vecchio amore di Achille. L'ingenuo Achille torna alla sua solita e grama esistenza : trover? conforto fra le braccia di Diana, che lo ama da tempo.
