Christiane's first job out of college was as a reporter for WJAR in Providence, Rhode Islands.
In Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People" edition for 2005, Christiane ranked #87.
Her son, born in March 2000, was named Darius John Rubin. His middle name, John, is in memorium of JFK, Jr, a personal acquantance and good friend of Christiane.
Christiane graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Rhode Island.
Christiane has been with CNN since 1999, and her first big story was the US terror attacks on September 11, 2001.
