Charlotte Gainsbourg filmography

I'm Not There
Formerly going by the title of "I'm Not There: Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan", this is a film about the life of Bob Dylan. The film follows seven characters, each embodying a different aspect of Dylan's life story and music. It's the first biographical feature project to secure the approval of the pop culture icon. The film is about the life of Bob Dylan's early days as a struggling folksinger, the rise to the forefront of the early-'60s folk scene, the controversial switch to rock, the motorcycle accident and the subsequent retreat from public view, and the latter-day de-emphasis of recording and concentration on the concert series known as the Never Ending Tour. Sounes somehow has uncovered some new information in that oft-scanned showbiz legend, mostly about Dylan's childhood and his jealously guarded family life. Some of it actually provides further insight into his songs, particularly those about his wife, Sara (Gainsbourg). Sounes also blows the lid off Dylan's heretofore unknown 1986 marriage to one of his backup singers. Each story expresses an aspect of Dylan's mercurial personality and each story is to be filmed differently, in a style appropriate to its theme: Woody (Franklin) - an 11-year-old black boy, always on the run; Robbie - a womanizing performer, always on the road; Jude (Blanchett) - the young androgynous rock star; John/Jack (Bale) - a folk idol who reinvents himself as an evangelist; Billy (Gere) - the famous outlaw, miraculously alive but growing old.

Lemming
B?n?dicte and Alain Getty are a young modern couple living in the suburbs of Toulouse. They have just settled in, and B?n?dicte is still unemployed, while Alain works in a wealthy computer company as an engineer, designing a revolutionary "flying web-cam" prototype. One night, Alain and B?n?dicte invite Alain's boss, Richard Pollock, and his wife Alice, over to dinner. But Alice acts weirdly from the very beginning, then violently disrupts the dinner, forcing Richard and her to leave the house in a rush. A few hours earlier, Alain had found what happened to be a half-dead lemming, stuck in the kitchen sink pipe. The next day, Alice, pretending to look for her husband, visits Alain in his office, and, after having told him she wants her husband dead on the account that he once tried to murder her, she openly seduces Alain. Alain doesn't really try to resist her... until he finally does. A few days later, Alice comes back, on her own, to the Gettys house, asking for an apology to B?n?dicte about the dinner, but also telling her what almost happened with Alain. B?n?dicte tries to ignore what she just heard, and offers Alice a cup of coffee, then, even though she is bedazzled by such a request, lets her have a rest in their spare bedroom. In the evening, when Alain comes back home from work, Alice is still sleeping. But when she eventually wakes up, she gets in a sudden rage, locks herself up in the room and commits suicide. From this moment on, nothing will be the same anymore for Alain, who will go through a drastic intimate journey, while B?n?dicte makes an even odder trip...

21 Grams
This is the story of three gentle persons: Paul Rivers (Penn) an ailing mathematician lovelessly married to an English emigr? (Gainsbourg), Christina Peck, an upper-middle-class suburban housewife, happily married and mother of two little girls, and Jack Jordan (Del Toro), an ex-convict who has found in his Christian faith the strength to raise a family. They will be brought together by a terrible accident that will change their lives. By the final frame, none of them will be the same as they will learn harsh truths about love, faith, courage, desire and guilt, and how chance can change our worlds irretrievably, forever.
