Bryan Dattilo Quotes & Trivia

Quotes

Bryan: (on his idea of a good time) Going out to three or four places in a night with a bunch of friends. We guys go out and meet girls. As Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin) told me, "You never bring sand to the beach."

Bryan: I play a scenario in my mind that Lucas is actually quite popular — at work — with other women. He gets invitations left and right from other women; he is just suspicious of their motives. He isn't dumb. I think of him as just the opposite. He isn't clueless at all.

Bryan: I drive a lot slower now that I have a kid.

Bryan: (his worst spending vice) Keeping my Mustang detailed, souped up and looking great.

Bryan: (his favourite sport) To play, baseball; To watch, football.

Bryan: (favourite way to unwind) Listening to Angels. It's a tape of soothing classical music. I meditate to it.

Bryan: (on his best decision) Not moving back to Chicago and not giving up on acting. Just before landing this job I was ready to go back and join the Air Force.

Bryan: (his best quality) My sense of humour.

Bryan: (on his best personal achievement) Personal appearances. I meet so many different kinds of people, and I get to destroy my TV image.

Bryan: Creating music has been a dream of mine since I was a twelve-year-old playing 'air-guitar' with my buddies.

Bryan: (on his Days character, Lucas) Lucas is a kid who thinks that the way to a person's heart is to tell them what they want to hear. He learned to look out for number one during his years away at military school, and now that he's in Salem, that's the only way he knows how to act. He's had to fend for himself most of his life, and he's angry at his mother for not being there for him while he was growing up. He's a good kid with a good heart, but he has to learn to relate in the outside world.

Bryan: When I was 12, I saw Clint Eastwood leaving a restaurant. I walked up to him and said, 'Go ahead, make my day.' and then I ran away.

Bryan: I look at acting like using a part of yourself in everything, so even if I do other characters, there's always a part of me there, not Lucas. I bring myself into every role which you have to in order to make it believable.

A little Bryan story....TV Guide Awards 1999... During awards shows, the networks hire people called "seat-fillers" who come to the show dressed up like guests. When someone is on stage, the seat filler goes to their seat, so when the audience is shown...it doesn't look empty. Well, whoever was sitting in the seat next to Bryan was gone...and a young lady with very curly hair came down and sat in the empty seat. Bryan, always the friendly guy, introduced himself and had a few words of conversation with her just to be friendly. At about that time....Days won for Best Soap...and the cast left their seats to go onstage. Bryan said to the seat filler, "I guess you can't come with us" (jokingly...as Bryan always does.) The seat-filler thought he said, "I guess you CAN come with us....and she ended up on stage with them! Bryan was just dying laughing. Austin then looked at Bryan and said, "Why'd you bring your date onstage?" Which really cracked Bryan up. Bryan told Austin...."This isn't my date, she's a seat- filler!!" and at that point....Austin really lost it. Bryan, at the same time began jumping up and down, because he was in the back and couldn't see. The whole cast then started "buzzing" about why Bryan brought his "date" on stage with him....and Austin and Bryan couldn't contain themselves......about that time, Deidre heard the boys goofing around in the back...and gave them that "motherly" warning....not knowing what had happened.
