In March 1994, Bob was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
During the last months of his life he suffered from very serious seizures.
He suffered from a form of skin cancer called "malignant melanoma". This form of cancer is very uncommon within black people and it is believed that he got this form of skin cancer because his father was white.
